Random September

From cool-dude shoes to bike rides to sibling love to date nights, there is so much randomness that happened this month that makes me feel so happy inside. Sometimes the daily grind of life can beat me down, but looking over these pictures from the last month and realizing how incredibly blessed I am to have the kiddos I have and the husband I have and the life I have makes me continually realize to not take anything for granted. In the midst of frustration and tiredness is happiness and joy and I just love my life so much. Thank you, Jesus!!

Field Trip with my boys

I feel blessed to be able to participate in my boys classroom experiences. Through a husband working at home and friends that I am able to swap childcare with so we can both be with our kids, I get to see the boys in their school setting a handful of times a year and I'm quite grateful. This month I was able to go with Reid to the fire station in Batavia, and it's so fun to watch him interact with his friends and listen to the teacher while still loving on his Mama. A week later, I went with Micah to the apple orchard (and sat on the back of the bus with him...if that's not love, I don't know what is!) and it confirmed for me the silliness that is 1st grade boys! I loved being able to be one of the only parents on that field trip and watch how all the kids play with each other and take in the newness they are learning on the field trip. Being a stay at home mama is not always the easiest job in the world (tho either is being a working outside of the home mama either!!) but I feel so grateful to be able to stay home with them and be able to be involved in their schools as much as I can.

Micah's fun run!!

Micah has been waiting for this day ALL.SUMMER.LONG. He has worked so hard and run so many miles...this is definitely one of my most "proud mama" moments! He signed up for the Fox Valley Kids Marathon, which required the registrants to run 25 miles over the course of the summer and then 1.2 miles the day before the official Fox Valley Marathon. Micah seriously did amazing, starting out times in the 10s, and running as fast as 7:34 min/mile!! And then when he completed his first 25, he wasn't satisfied and decided he wanted to try and get through the 25 miles again before race day. Well, that didn't happen, but he got 20 more, making his summer running total of 45 miles before his 1.2 mile race. If that's not a boy after my own heart (and pretty darn impressive for a 6 year old!) I don't know what is.

Race day come, and Micah ran with all his might. There was no clock on the course (what?!) but I would guess he finished in the top 10% or so overall. Regardless of not having the official "stats" which was the first question he asked for after the race, haha, I couldn't be more proud of Micah. He worked hard, didn't give up, and I believe has really developed a love for running. I now have visions of us running a marathon together 10 years down the road and think that would be such an amazing experience with my biggest boy :)
