Place of Refuge

Lately Micah has been getting his feelings hurt and/or being dissatisfied with mine or Christian's actions towards something involving him.  Typically when this happens, he breaks out in a fake cry and runs to a place to deal with his emotions.  Usually after a few minutes of being alone, he's back and running with a big smile on his face.  His favorite place as of late is the stairs...thus the picture above.

I'm not sure quite how to deal with Micah's latest antics, but right now I am okay with the way he's handling the situation.  It's clear that we all have our own ways of dealing with disappointment/sadness/hurt feelings, and why should I redirect my toddler at this point?  I believe it's healthy to deal with the emotions and feel that Micah's doing a-okay right now :)

  1. My friends daughter did the same thing. She'd hide under the bed though. When she was collected she'd come back and be okay. She would do this with me too when I would watch her. It lasted about a month or two.
