Reid updates

I just wanted to get a post up about a couple of developmental things we have seen with Reid in the last week:
  • Rolling over consistently both ways, which means he's all over our room now :)
  • Extended time by himself in the exersaucer
  • Reaching out and grabbing our faces as he is very focused on what's in front of him
  • Riding in the BOB stroller without his car seat
Not quite developmental, but I officially started sleep training today with Reid.  I don't remember having to do much at all with Micah, but Reid is now 4 1/2 months, and still struggles at times going to sleep on his own.  So, starting with his first nap today I am following Dr. Weissbluth and letting him cry if needed, up to an hour.  Sounds awful to me!  Two naps in, however, and we've had success so far.  First nap took 25 minutes, but then he was out for 1 1/2 hours.  Second nap was only 13 minutes, and he's been out for over two hours thus far.  Anyone who knows me knows my challenges in crying...so the fact that I'm here is definitely out of necessity and I know, in the long run, it will be a good thing.  I'm just praying it goes quicker and easier as we continue through, not the other way around.  And I'm hoping in 2-3 days, this whole sleep training thing will be over.  I chose to do it today, as I have my marathon this weekend and will be leaving the boys with Christian all day Saturday.  I thought, for his sake, it would be nice to have Reid *hopefully* trained by then and a stress reliever off of me.

The other piece of news regarding Reid is that we found out he has eczema :(.  He had a rash at his 4 month appointment, but it wasn't too bad so I didn't think much of it.  Well, since then, I've watched it grow and spread, so we went to the doctor yesterday to discover the diagnosis.  I remember Micah having a small stint of eczema, but nothing to the extent of Reid's.  Poor baby has it all over, really.  So I'm praying that now that we know, we can treat with heavy moisturizers and hopefully get it under control.

That's about it, right now.  I'm sure I'll recap this and more at Reid's 5 month post ;)

  1. Oh my goodness - this little boy is getting cuter ever day! Love that sweet little face :) We have to get together soon so I can see him again (& you and Micah, too!!) Sorry to hear about the eczema - have you figured out a cause? Not food, I hope...
