Glen Arbor Vacation!

The week after labor day we headed up to Northern Michigan with some good friends for a few days.  We had a great time and are really thankful our family of 5 vacation was a bit easier than the last one we took at the end of July.  Hope for the future and that we will figure this whole thing out :)

Gemma the night before.  It's through the monitor, obviously, but what a sweetheart!!  Sleeping babies just make my heart melt.

The next day traveling.  She really did quite well in the car, all things considered!  I was impressed, given the track record of not only her, but all of my kiddos in the car.

And the house where we stayed.  We loved it.

Vacation!

Family shot - minus Gemma, who was sleeping

Daddy let the boys ride up front while re-parking the car.

Norah and Jackson, Micah and Reid.  Fun times ahead for this foursome!

Chillin' in the chairs on the covered patio.

DUNE TIME!!
Micah LOVED the dunes and ran up and down them a couple of times.  This was certainly a case where we saw his determination serving him well.  He wanted to be the first up the climb and worked very hard to make it happen!

Gemma's regular spot while out and about.

At the top.

I made it!

Betsy and Norah tuckered out.

Yay, family!

Micah and Christian running down

And Reid and Christian running down.  Reid got tired pretty quickly and wanted Daddy to "hold you"

After their run.

Micah kickin' it hard down the dunes, shortly before he fell.  You can't tell the faces of the couple, but they were definitely in awe of how fast he was going!

The Davis family

Dunes!

The four kiddos climbed hard to the top - We were all quite impressed!

Clearly Norah and Jackson are used to my antics to get some smiles during pictures, lol.

Momma and her baby girl

After the dune climb, we drove the scenic pass and checked out another dune climb we did NOT do.  Though I will say that Jason has done that climb in the past, with a 10 month old on his back.  IN-SANE.

The boys played ring around the rosy here - so cute!

A little young love brewing, perhaps?? :)

Spiderman webs

Norah and Jackson loved the dog, my boys were terrified and didn't get close.  You could definitely tell which family had dogs.

Lunch break!

Gemma finally woke up, so we had to capture her awake :)

Tongue out and all.

Even though this picture is blurry, I love it.  Reid was just walking and wanted to kiss my hand.  I love my family!!!  Great capture, Betsy.

That afternoon we headed to the beach - since it was the one nice day we had while there.  We had to pack all the outdoor activity in to one day!

Reid literally fell 20-30 times while on vacation (no idea why!) and the above is remnants of the worst of the falls...face plant to concrete and scuffed up face in three areas!  Poor baby.

Micah was a fish, again!  The water was freezing, but he had no hesitation dunking his head right under.

Check out M's face here, haha.

This was Gemma while everyone else was at the beach (her and I stayed back).  How could you not love that massive bow on her head?? :)

After the beach we headed home and quickly got ready for some family pictures.  (I told you we had to pack the day!).
Basically how Reid was most of the photo shoot.  Typical 2 year old, I know, but still hard to reign him in to get that 1 great shot!

Look how cute these four are!  I love this shot.

Reid refused to look at the camera.  We tried many different positions to get him to cooperate.

Me holding two kids.

"Vacation!"

Daddy holding Gemma, me holding Reid, Micah in the middle.

This might've been our best here.

At least Gemma can't run away, yet :)

Next location, the beach!  I love these shots - definitely a Christmas card picture from this bunch.

And here are some bloopers from the photo shoot above, focusing on Reid of course.  Micah was really quite amazingly well behaved during the pictures!

The next day was rainy.  All.Day.Long.  So we enjoyed some movies, puzzles, games and a fire.  And food, of course.  You can't be stuck inside all day without food!

Reid watching a show on the iPad.

My sweet Reidees.  Love this boy!!

And that was it.  Time to go home the next day.
Gemma was all tuckered out.

And after I put the mattress as a partition, did Reid decide he could fall asleep.  He was too distracted with Micah next to him, within reach, to leave him alone!

What a great few days away, and something I hope we can do again in the future.  We love Glen Arbor.  Such a cute town, with so much to do, while also feeling like you can not do anything and be happy.  The best of both worlds.

  2. This was a wonderful walk down memory lane. Those pictures could all have been of us with Christian and Andy when they were about that age. I recall Sleepy Bear Dunes, Pierce Stocking and the scaring dune down to Lake Michigan, and so much more. It is wonderful to note that the tradition continues. Thanks for the wonderful shots of Micah, Reid, and Gemma as well.
