I have to say, the kids did absolutely amazing traveling down. Gemma was able to have her own seat on the plane, in which she sat in a carseat and I didn't have to take her out once. The boys were playing on their new Christmas gifts, happily entertained and I was actually able to relax a bit on the flight, which I call a huge win! We left on a Thursday and flew in to Tampa, staying the night with Jeff, Liza and Asher. It was so nice to be able to visit with them and let the cousins play, as we don't see them but once a year usually. Unfortunately Gemma and Reid did NOT sleep well that night, so Christian and I had quite a sleepless night, but all part of the game in traveling, no?
Friday morning we left shortly after lunch time and headed over to Orlando for me to pick up my race bibs and packets, as the reason we were traveling to Disney in January was because I had signed up to do the Goofy Challenge. For those of you that don't know, the Goofy Challenge is where you complete a half marathon on Saturday followed by a full marathon on Sunday. So that's back to back races equaling 39.3 miles in total in two days. It's pretty darn "Goofy" and has been on my bucket list for running for quite some time. My friend Noelle asked me last year about running it, and I knew this was my chance because it's not every day you get a person willingly desiring to run almost 40 miles in two days!
I'll leave this post here, with pictures from our first two days in Florida and pick up the next post with my races.
