Last Saturday was our first of 3 Christmas celebrations - this time with Christian's parents and brother and sister-in-law. It is becoming a tradition to go to Andy and Katie's house while she cooks up an Italian feast of caprese salad, bruschetta, lasagna, meatballs (and the list goes on). We quite enjoy the fun and relaxing afternoon of family time, and this year we were even more excited as it was Micah's first Christmas. Now I know that he's young and has no clue what this day is all about - but I also know it's the beginning of what is sure to be really fun and memorable times for us in the future.
Micah seemed to really enjoy the day, and although the red tissue paper was almost as exciting as his gifts from Uncle Andy and Aunt Katie (who are spoiling him already - but we don't mind:)) he was all dressed up and ready to celebrate and was even able to open up some of the gift himself by tearing the paper. What a good time we had with everyone there...and truly could have had no gifts, just the joy of being together as a family and of watching Micah and remembering the miracle that he is to us as well as the miracle of the birth of our savior. Seeing the excitement for a little child in tissue paper or cups or boxes brings one back to the simple things in life. Knowing that Christ was born on this day in a manger, who would one day die for our sins so that we could have eternal life and is THE reason for the season as well as watching this little child causes me to reflect even more on that amazing event.
I'm sure there are no surprises that we took many pictures of Micah...he's just such a good subject, haha. Enjoy - and expect posts/pictures from Christmas #2 and#3 in the next couple of weeks.
