Oh Night Terrors...

You are not my friend.  Poor Reid has had night terrors 2 of the last 3 nights, and I'll tell you, it's one of the most helpless times I've experienced as a mom.  Both episodes probably lasted about 20 minutes or so, and the first night we weren't sure what it was.  Reid was inconsolable and just crying constantly.  He was even thrashing a little, jerky with his movements, and refused a pacifier or anything else that might soothe him.  We thought it might be a night terror that night, but after tonights episode we are certain that's what is going on.  It's awful!  And while I know it doesn't hurt him, and won't be remembered in the morning, it's still painful to see your child crying uncontrollably.  Seemingly in pain.  And inconsolable.  I hope these 2 are not the beginning of many more, but just a couple of flukey episodes... time will tell, I guess!

WaterPark Fun

Last weekend we headed out to our local waterpark in Yorkville (yes, out in the middle of nowhere!) and to use my hubby's words, it was legit.  We went with the Koss' and had a great time - and definitely think it's something we would do again.  Reid absolutely loved the water and was super content in the lazy river or with Micah pulling him down the slide.  He was, by far, the youngest kid on the slide, but he loved every second of it, and I loved watching his face (and other parent's faces watching him) erupt in the biggest smile!  Micah enjoyed his time as well, especially if he wasn't told where to go/what to do, but able to do whatever he wanted.  Par for the course, I know, yet it was still a blast going with the boys and getting to make some fun family memories.

Chillin' in the lazy river.  And yes, Christian and Steve shared a raft :)

Reidees and I a second time around the river while Micah and Daddy went back to the slides.

Me helping get Micah and Dash down the slide.  The same slide I helped Reid and Micah down.

So sweet ;)

Not the greatest picture with Micah's eyes closed, but a family shot nonetheless.

Most of the boys on a raft while waiting for Jed and Steve to appear on the big funnel cone ride!  Jed was the only one tall enough to ride everything, so him and Steve took advantage.

A fun day with fun friends!  That is, until the thunderstorm came in very abruptly and scattered us quickly.  Ah, well.  Memories all the same.

Happy Father's Day Christian!

A bit late, but here are so pics from last weekend's Father's Day.  We started out with our traditional 5K race at PrairieFest.  It wouldn't be Father's Day without our annual race :)  Last year Christian and I both ran it (it was my first race back post-Reid) and this year I stayed on the sidelines cheering my hubby on with the boys.  It was really fun to watch the excitement in my boys - all 3 of them - seeing Daddy run, and him seeing his boys on the sidelines cheering.  Christian also ran fantastically well, and I'm really proud of his racing.

This summer I'm reminiscing quite a bit of Micah's summer when he was Reid's age, since Reid is wearing a lot of the same clothes.  I purposefully put Reid in the same outfit Micah wore on this day 2 years ago, just because it was so vivid in my mind.  Sweet sweet boys that grow too quickly!  I know I linked the same post last post, so sorry for the repeat.  But as I just read through what I wrote then, I don't think I could say it any better now.

Christian - thank you so much for doing everything in the world for your family.  You work so hard, providing for us, so that I can stay home and raise our two boys.  You support us, love us, and I absolutely love watching the love you have for your boys shine through in your interactions with them and talk of them when you're away.  I love watching their faces light up when you come home from work, or when we hear your voice or see you talking through the computer.  We are blessed with an amazing daddy and husband.  Thank you for all that you do.  We love you so much, Daddy!

Daddy and his baby boy.

Similar facials, huh?

Micah and Daddy...when did he get so old?

The best we could do with Christian and the two boys, lol.

A quick family shot.  Not great quality but not too bad!

Way in the distance, you can see Micah running with Christian.

I love that he's so excited here and his feet are literally off the ground.  This kid loves to run, and I think has become faster since he turned 3!

Hiya, Daddy!

That's the way to eat a snack...

You can't really tell, but Reid is clapping.  Every time I would say, "Reid can you clap?" He would immediately start clapping.  The runners who would pass by when this happened just loved it :)

Go, Daddy, go!

(No idea if he beat the kid right next to him, but I do know he ran one of his faster 5K times!)

Micah giving Daddy congratulatory hugs!

After the race we headed to the farmers market in downtown Oswego and then off to the park before heading home for lunch and naps.  We had to keep Reid busy, as he missed his morning nap and was only going to get one nap for the day.  This was the park that was underwater due to the flooding, and the place where Reid's 1st birthday party was supposed to be.

Love this sweet boy!

They had a fun roller slide that Micah loved helping Reid down...

and he loved being helped back up!

Once we got home, Reid ate quickly and went down for his nap.  Micah, on the other hand, got to spend some one-on-one quality time with Christian at a waterpark!  This waterpark is literally in the middle of nowhere, and we had never been, but Christian said Micah LOVED it!  I'm so excited he did, as he's shown a bit of hesitation with water at times.  Clearly he loved it, because below is what happened within 5 minutes of getting back in the car:

Happy Father's Day Christian!  I hope you enjoyed your time with your family and felt appreciated and valued.  We love you so much, and while it doesn't take a specific day to tell you that, I hope you can feel extra special on this one day :)

PrairieFest 2013

Every year during Father's Day Weekend our local town runs PrairieFest, which includes carnivals, booths, parades, 5Ks, and so much more.  I headed out last Friday with the boys and we had a good time!  The weather was beautiful and we were able to get there for Micah to enjoy the big trucks that he could climb in.

Reid loved the petting zoo, and seemed much less timid that Micah did at his age.  Maybe it's because we didn't have food, or maybe it's because Reid is just FEARLESS!

"So Big"

Micah did want to ride the pony, so we waited in a long line for him to be able to do this, and I think he thoroughly enjoyed himself!

Summertime Classes and more

Micah started his classes with the park district last week.  The first is swimming, in which I am going with him.  We had bad memories from an indoor class we did 1.5 years ago with Christian, so he refused to accompany him for this one :)  No problem, Momma to the rescue.  Micah was all smiles pre-class...

If we had some post-class pictures, I don't think you'd see the smile quite like you see above.  The water was FREEZING, which didn't bode well for little boys trying to learn how to swim.  Mom tried to play it up, but it was freezing.  Hopefully it warms up soon, because at the end, Micah was not too excited about going back.  But we will...and hopefully willingly :)

Today he started his other class, an all sports class.  Seeing that this is his first taste of organized sports, I didn't want to sign him up for a specific sport until we were able to get an idea of which ones he might take an interest in the most.  Today's sport was soccer...and, well, realizing your child is not the sharpest tool in the shed...time will tell, right?  He did okay, but Reid and I were close by and he was a bit distracted with our presence later in to the class.  Hopefully it's just a one time thing and next week will be better.  Truly, this is his first experience with all of these sports, so I'm just excited to see where he's at at the end the class.
Huddled in a circle listening to Coach Nick.

Dribbling the ball in for a goal.

Lots of little kiddos in this class - props to the coaches for their patience with a bunch of squirly 3 year olds!

Goal!

The next sequence of pictures are of Reid, and have nothing to do with Micah's classes, but wanted to include them somehow.  When I went to check on Reid the other day from his nap, I found him like this.  Clearly still breathing, but a sweaty mess waking up, silly boy.

And Reid trying to grow up too quickly and take on big brother's hot wheel.  At the rate Micah's going with it, Reid truly may take it on before Micah does, haha.
