St. Martin, post #1

It's taken awhile for me to actually get these posts up - but that's because I have 4-5 posts of pictures I will be doing.  When you take 500+ pictures, and then also get 300+ from your friends, well, it makes for a lot of pictures to go through before posting :)

So - back to the beginning, Christian and I headed off to St. Martin in the Caribbean with our good friends Kate and Steve.  They were celebrating their 10 year anniversary, and we were celebrating a time away without kids for the first time since Micah's birth :)  I was definitely apprehensive about leaving the boys, and while I was super excited about the trip, I had told Christian I didn't want to be gone longer than 5 nights.  It ended up be 6 full days and honestly seemed like the perfect amount for me.  I am grateful for the means to be able to do something like then, grateful for parents that can take our boys (and even drive them back up to Chicago so that we didn't have to fly in to St.Louis instead!) and grateful for the company we were able to have while on vacation.  Overall, I would say it was a win-win-win.

Let's get to the pictures and recap our trip as quickly as possible.  First, there will be a number of posts, each one from a different camera.  It seemed to me the easiest way to split things up, so sorry if there are some similar shots in upcoming entries.  The first is from our nice Canon camera.

When planning our trip, we came across a spectacular villa!  After doing some price comparisons, knew we couldn't pass it up - and boy are we glad.  Check out where we stayed while there!

And another pool shot - um, gorgeous?!!?

Outside shower and grill

Bedroom on the left, "living" areas on the right.  We were in 2 separate buildings, where you had to go outside in order to get to the other place.

Ah, this is the life!

Yay for date nights :)

Walking on the main strip in Grand Case.  Night #2 - on our way to a restaurant called Love Hotel.

Steve and Kate

Me and my man :)

The restaurant was right on the water, so we walked along the beach afterwards.

The next day (Monday) we took a ferry ride to Pinel Island.  It was beautiful, but a big storm came in and our sunbathing day was cut short.  We were stuck on the island for awhile and Kate and Steve took advantage by snorkeling, while Christian and I stayed huddled under the canopy.  It was an adventurous day, and a memory maker, but one I did not care to repeat :)

That night we headed back to Grand Case and ate at Calmos Cafe - a restaurant with a fun atmosphere and tables in the sand.  We went there twice and thoroughly enjoyed both visits.

On Wednesday we headed out to Anse Marcel for a Catamaran Ride to Prickly Pear.  We were out on the boat for 2-3 hours, at the deserted island for about 2 hours and then back on the boat to sail back.  It was an absolutely amazing day and a perfect way to end our vacation, as we were flying back home the next day.
At the marina in Anse Marcel to board our Catamaran.

Check out the water in the next few pictures - it really was that blue!  Absolutely gorgeous and a color I've never really seen before!!  This was at our deserted island, Prickly Pear.

You can see a few chairs and 1 restaurant that has been set up for tourists.  That's all that exists there from what I could tell.  Pretty amazing.

We snorkeled off the boat and then swam to shore.  Christian chose not to go, so he took our bags and got us chairs so we'd have a place to rest when we were done.  Thanks, honey!

Christian in front of our Catamaran, the Scoobi Too.  Pretty cool, right?

And that is all the pictures from our nice camera.  Don't worry, like I said, there are many more to come:)  Next up, Christian's iPhone...
