The first set of pictures show us on the plane, and enjoying our resort ;) Then a few dinners out, then more resort relaxing. There wasn't much to take pictures of outside of that, as that was what we spent our time doing...eating and sunning, haha.
You can see the waves starting to get bigger here. That is
because we decided to go to Cabo when a hurricane was threatening to
reach shore. That's right. Hurricane Blanca - turned tropical storm
with 100mph wind gusts - visited Cabo while were there there. It was a
little scary, but overall just crazy to watch the resort go from
sunshine city to packing up all the chairs, sandbagging different areas,
shutting down most of the restaurants with extremely limited room
service, and putting cinder blocks along the beach side restaurants to
try and stabilize them just a little more. There was a part of me that
was scared, and wishing I was with my kiddos. I was also really
intrigued and thought it was neat to be able to witness all of this in
action. The ocean is a huge body of water that obviously must be feared
and respected...and God at the center of it all.
Having fun with the weather before being on lock down in our room!
The storm passed us by, we survived, and we spent our last lunch visiting the Hilton resort, where we stayed on our honeymoon. It's a beautiful resort, and brought back many fond memories!!!
The morning we left, we decided to walk along the beach, and was amazed to discover these rocks that seemed to appear out of nowhere. Initially we thought maybe it was sand caked on the beach, but it really was hard and rocky, and as we continued to walk realized that THAT much sand had just been washed away from the storm. So what had been flat and walkable beaches became rocky and detoured with huge rocks being uncovered by Blanca! It was truly an amazing site.
This use to have sand all the way up the steps, not broken off and bare like you see.
The resort - impossible to get down from that section due to all the sand washed away. The steps are now just hanging in mid-air!
The only picture of my boys while we were gone that I could find, tho I know there were many more. My parents and Christian's parents split time with our kids and I know all parties had a great time. Tiring and missing mommy and daddy time as well, but a really good time bonding with grandparents :)
My baby girl who turned 1 the day after we got back!!!
Thank you Nana Kay and Papa C and Grandma and Grandpa for taking such great care of our children while we were away!!! What a blessing to have family we can trust our kids lives with, so that Christian and I could get some much needed kid-less connection time :) We love you guys!
