Vancouver...Canada, baby:)

Vancouver is a beautiful city!! Considering we almost didn't get there because of our passport debacle, we were ecstatic to arrive in the city. More to the story, however, because the morning we were leaving to take the train up we get a call saying the train has been canceled due to a mudslide from all the rain. Are you kidding me?!? What else could happen? Thankfully our route wasn't canceled, but that meant we were rerouted on a good 'ole greyhound bus. Really?!? With a 10 month old and a bus full of bitter Amtrak customers? Fun times, fun times.

The bus ride was pretty tough with Micah because he refuses to sleep when people are round, and just wants to move! And a bus is way worse than a plane, and definitely than the train would have been. But, that's life, right?! So we deal with it, and get through it, and come out okay on the other side.

So, after a trying bus trip, where Micah really was a good traveler, we were thrilled to arrive at our destination. And we were not disappointed by our condo rental in Vancouver either.

The weather was beautiful, and was the first time we had seen sun since the beginning of our vacation. 3 of the 4 days we were there were pretty nice, and we were both so grateful for that. I was able to do a nice long run around Stanley Park and we were able to take in Gastown, Whistler, Granville Island, as well as take in downtown and the Olympic torches.

Olympic torches - pretty cool to see!

Checking out the birds in the air - he is fascinated with everything above him!

We were watching the plane below land on the water.

Just some fun on a park bench. I swear we wore different clothing during the trip - even though all you see is our black and red jackets.

As we packed up and headed to the airport early Monday morning, we were met with another roadblock that just seemed apropo for us this vacation. We go to check in and are asked, "Does baby have a passport?" Huh? Um, no. I had checked about getting in to Canada and were told that he only needed a birth certificate (which we had!). Apparently the rules for ground travel and air travel are different. I, in no way, thought that if we had been allowed in to Canada, that we wouldn't be allowed out. But, a passport for Micah we needed, and didn't have. Oops! Again! Seriously! Thankfully, after double security and a 2nd meeting with the US customs department at the airport we were able to get on. Note taken...get your children passports when you get their birth certificates:)

On the way home, thankfully! I was telling Micah that Canada just wanted to keep him there because he was so darn cute:)

Overall, we had a great vacation and decent weather. Micah was an amazing traveler, with only a couple meltdowns while we were in transit across the northwest, and I'm very grateful for that. We are leaving again this weekend for St.Louis, as I am running in another marathon (crazy, I know!) and I'm not super excited about the 300 miles road trip, but it will be great to see my parents and grandma. The vacation was so fun, and it was awesome to spend good quality time with my husband and son! I love you both:)
