Vacation! Pit Stop: St.Louis

We headed out the last week of July for our first vacation as a family of 5!! It was a crazy, stressful, exciting, chaotic and fun trip.  Does that sound even possible?  But it was :)  There were highs and there were lows, but it was great to see family and get to hang out without the pressure of work for Christian.

We were on our way to Wichita to visit my aunt and her family.  They have a very nice house with a pool, and I knew that that alone would be vacation for us.  Micah has had swimming lessons the last two summers and I really wanted to give him a chance to just swim.  Reid I figured would be fine with the water and I knew Gemma wouldn't be able to do anything no matter where we went.  I had told Christian the only way we were vacationing was if it was with help this summer.  So we stopped in St. Louis for 2 nights and picked up my mom to continue our trip to Wichita.  Thank goodness!!!  I don't think we would have survived without her :)  The boys did great and Gemma did not.  More on that with the Wichita post, as she did great in St. Louis - and that is what's below.

We left right after lunch, and within 30 minutes, Reid was out. Rare moments of calm are what this picture captures :)

We went down on a Sunday afternoon, and were in St. Louis on Monday, where we went to - you guessed it - the St. Louis Zoo ;)  Since Mike and Deanna live there, we were able to meet up with Deanna, Luke and Eleanor at the zoo.  It was a great outing and makes me all the more wishful that we lived in closer proximity to family!
On the train.

Being silly with my big boy.

Love this picture of Luke!

I love that I caught Gemma in a yawn here!

Sweet family.

After the zoo and naps, Christian took Micah to a near by pool to work on what he'd learned in his swimming classes.

LOVE this picture of Micah :)

It was a great start to our vacation, and we were very much looking forward to the next leg of the journey.  Little did we know what Gemma had in store for us!
