Well, this post is long overdue, but blogging has hit a back seat as I have begun planning for Reid's birthday party...yes, that's right, my baby boy is turning 1 next month!! How is that possible??!?!! Oh time goes sooo quickly in some avenues of life. But, nonetheless, this post is not about Reid turning one :) Although I did want to give you one preview of some of the food items of the party to come. I've decided to make all the sweets myself, so this week my trays for chocolate molding came and I gave them a try - turned out pretty good, I think!
Three weeks ago Christian flew out to Australia(!!), so I decided to head down to to Nana Kay and Papa C's with the boys. It was wonderful being with my parents and getting help for the 5 days we were down there, versus being solo in my day to day routine with no help. This had been the second week Christian was gone in 3 weeks, and when it came on a Friday I decided it was time to take a St. Louis trip.
The boys did great in the car, even with my newly potty-trained toddler. I put Micah in a pull-up, and so badly wanted to plan on telling him to go in there instead of pulling off the highway, especially with a sleeping/content baby...but it really wasn't bad! He had to go once on the way down, and the timing was perfect. The way back was a couple of times, but still, the timing was great. Reid also slept for 1.5 hrs in a row on the way back, which is by far the longest he's slept in the car, so yay boys!!
We had a wonderful time with my parents, as the boys are getting quite comfortable with both sets of grandparents. I decided to have Micah sleep in the same room with me and let Reid have his own room, as I figured I could tell Micah to go back to sleep if he woke too early. My parents have the bed I slept on on extenders, so the bed is quite high. I was a little worried about Micah's movements at night without a rail to keep him contained, which proved to be true when I found him like I did in the below picture:
I was about to move him but went to get ready for bed myself first, and in the process heard Micah crying. He had woken up while underneath the bed and was scared. Oops! So, we had to put some barricades up against the bed, and then did pretty well the remainder of the time we were there.
Reid also did well sleeping, much better than at Christmas time when he had been up for 3 hours at a time in the middle of the night. My mom got a crib/crib bedding for him to sleep in which I believe really helped, and than in addition to being in his own room, made for a happier and more rested little boy.
Micah and I were able to take advantage of a little time to ourselves and headed out to a bouncehouse one morning while Reid stayed back napping. The video is just a quick shot of Micah heading down the big slide he had climbed up all by himself. Talk about baby boy getting big...oh, how is he almost 3??
And that's all the pictures I have of our time in St. Louis, but know we had a good time. Not sure when we'll be able to go back down, as it looks like it might not be until our trip in May, so I'm glad for the more impromptu trip to spend quality time with family. And I have to say, it really did help time pass quickly while Christian as gone!
Boy! Were we glad you came but also glad you left when you did because of really yucky winter weather that moved in right after you left.
