Dear Micah,
Happy 5th birthday to my smart and funny firstborn! You bring me such joy, daily, and I'm so honored to be your momma. This year has been an amazing year, and I feel that even in the last month you've grown up ten-fold right before my eyes!!! Your year started out with the arrival of your baby sister, which you took on with joy and excitement and love. The way you interact with babies, little kids, your sister...I really feel like you'll do something with kids when you get older. You seem to gravitate towards them and just really enjoy entertaining and teaching them something.
What a year it's been, buddy! After the summer, you started pre-k and took it on like a champ. You had never been in a setting like that before and I was interested to see how you'd do, particularly on the social side of it all. You're a bit of an introvert and sometimes like to be by yourself doing activities, which is great! I was just curious how you'd take on the classroom environment and then friendship level, and I think it's safe to say it was a success. Through the course of the year you were able to make some good friends and I'm excited it's likely you'll be in school with some of them next year.
You still thrive with art projects of ANY kind. You love to color, write words, draw pictures, create word stories and lately have been making music notes and "songs". You are talented, Micah, and I love watching your brain process all that you're learning and put it into drawings. You also love to make pictures for other people...no matter the occasion. I can't count how many times you wanted to bring in pictures for your preschool buddies and just think you have such a big and compassionate heart for others.
In the physical, big motor skills front, you've really grown up!!!! I'm actually quite sad to see it happening, as I'm realizing you're not my baby anymore. I mean, you're heading off to kindergarten in just a couple of months, aghhh!!! But right after Reid turned 3, you decided it was time to learn how to ride a 2-wheeler, with very little help from me or Daddy. Later that week, you also put two and two together and discovered how to successfully pump your legs on the swing, and just like that you were off on your own again. I've also seen a more adventurous side develop in you this year (like the zip line riding at Blackberry Farm!!) How about slowing down now, buddy??? You promised me and Daddy you'd stay 5 and wouldn't grow any older, so I'm going to hold you to it :)
What a special boy you are Micah. You have a huge heart and love for your friends and family. You are sensitive and snuggly and just melt my heart. I love you more than I know how to show sometimes and you have captured every piece of me baby boy! You're really matured this year and I can't wait to see what the next chapter, ie, year of your life holds in store for you. You are kind, sincere, compassionate and loving. Keep that going buddy. Always show your love and keep loving us back. Daddy and I, Reid and Gemma, we all love you so, so much. We couldn't ask for a better child to make us parents and we're so proud of you. Happy Birthday Micah!!!
Love,
Mommy
