And so we're here - another year, and another day to celebrate me :) Which, let's be honest, I'm celebrated all year by my family so there isn't a need for a special day...but I love it. I love the specialized attention on me, especially as the kids are getting older. It started on Friday with a "Mother's Day Tea" at Micah's school. All the kids honored their mothers, filled out slips of paper about us, and celebrated us by drawing pictures for us. It's fun to see how we're portrayed in the eyes of our kids.
After the tea, Christian took a special trip with Micah and Reid individually, that remained a secret until today. But it was cute to see the excitement in Micah's face and voice when he got back.
Then came today - Sunday. Christian took the boys out together this morning, and showed back up with three bouquets of tulips - each one picked out by the boys! They're beautiful, and currently being displayed in three different rooms in my house. After that we got ready for church, and then came home to a lavishing of gifts from the outlet mall. My favorite part was watching the excitement on Micah's face as I opened up the gift that he personally picked out. A shirt with hearts all over it. Because we should get Mommy a heart shirt since it's her special day. Talk about hearts...mine was bursting with joy.
Then our photo shoot to capture this day...hard to get 3 little kids to all look at the camera and smile, so I'll settle for 2 out of 3 :) Love, love, love my family. Motherhood is not easy, and much harder than I ever dreamed it would be ("You have NO idea") but it's also more fulfilling and amazing and awesome and incredible than I can put in to words. The fact that God has entrusted not one, but three little ones in to my care is awesome and also quite scary. I just pray I'm able to raise God-fearing, loving, humble and Christ-serving children...and be able to enjoy the journey along the way.
After naps, my amazing husband cooked up a fantastic brunch (that we had for dinner) including a frittata, cinnamon rolls, breakfast sausage and fruit salad. Yum-my!!! Such a fun day and just awesome to feel the love from all of my family.
And I can't write this post without giving a shout out to my own Momma. You are an amazing woman, displaying a Christ-centered home, an attitude of servanthood and a heart of gold. I love you so much and pray I can follow in your foot steps with my own children. Thank you for always being there and loving me through the good and the bad. Happy Mother's Day Momma!
So sweet! You are well celebrated and loved.
