While I didn't expect miracles to happen (though kinda wished they would :)), I'm started to question whether Micah really is ready for potty training or not at this point. He says the right things to me, he knows all the rules, and he knows the rewards that come with staying "clean and dry" and consequently what happens if he doesn't. But we had an accident today right after lunch, 5 minutes before we were going upstairs, and somewhere in between my questioning him every 5 minutes. Literally, as one friend put it, I am a broken record. "Micah, are you clean and dry?" "Micah, do you need to go potty?" "Are you sure?" "Are you clean and dry?" Over and over and over. We still had a few instances of resistance today, but then we also had multiple, "I go on potty" occurrences too.
My biggest struggle/concern/question is whether Micah's literally able to do this right now. I know there has to be the ability to hold his pee for elongated periods of time, as well as being able to communicate with me that he has to go potty. He's not great at either of those right now, and that's where I wonder if it's a training thing (ie, something to be grasped quickly) or a timing thing (ie, put on the brakes right now and try again in a month or two).
So.....I'm dedicated for a week. And then I'll reevaluate and go from there. Oh, and he did have a fever tonight, ate nothing for dinner and was super cuddly with me (which is rare since he's always on the go). While I do love the cuddly little boy, it's sad to see him sick. Did that play a factor in today, I don't know. But just wanted to throw it out there for the record.
And completely unrelated, Reid's 3rd tooth is definitely through and #4 is on its way. He was super, super happy today - like the happiest I've seen him in awhile. Must be through the pain on #3, finally!
