The Beginnings of Potty Training

Well, I'm officially starting tomorrow with Micah (I'm sure I needed to clarify so you didn't think it was Reid, haha!).  We'll just see how it goes and hopefully he's trained by the end of the week.  Am I nervous? Anxious? Excited? Yes to all.  Do I have high expectations?  Low expectations?  All of the above?  Absolutely.  I've heard so many horror stories related to potty training, I'm truly gun shy with it all.  On the other hand, there are quite a few success stories as well, and I've just decided now is the time.  Who knows if I'll do it right, but isn't that what parenting is all about?  Trial and Error. Nobody's perfect and we all learn from our mistakes moving forward.

We aren't starting from scratch tomorrow, as we've done potty talk for quite some time now.  And Micah has also gone pee-pee on the potty quite a bit.  But tomorrow's the first time we're dressing him in "big boy underwear."  That is a momentous day, in my opinion.  We've talked now for about 1-1.5 months the importance of going on the potty, big boy underwear and "bye-bye diapers."  He got Mickey and Toy Story underwear in his stocking.  Tomorrow we are putting that talk into action.  We had a long talk tonight and Micah picked out the underwear he wanted to wear tomorrow.  We then reiterated about the diapers going bye-bye and that we wanted to keep Mickey clean and dry.  We shall see what has sunk in and where we go from there, as only time will tell.

So, yes, a prayer would be nice :)  And hopefully I'll have some positive things to report about a week from now.  Stay tuned...
